When Dr. Theodor Stiebel invented and produced the ring immersion heater in his backyard workshop in Berlin in 1924, he opened the first chapter of STIEBEL ELTRON's successful company history. The beginning of a success story: The "ELTRON" company is founded on 5 May 1924 by Dr Theodor Stiebel in Berlin. In his backyard workshop in Berlin, he invents and produces the immersion heater, thus opening the first chapter of STIEBEL ELTRON's successful company history. This was just the beginning: in the 1970s, STIEBEL ELTRON started producing heat pumps and solar collectors, establishing itself as a pioneer in the field of renewable energies.

2000 | Brombeerweg farm

As an Expo 2000 project, STIEBEL ELTRON installed 20 different building technology systems in a real housing estate development. The experience gained from this provided important impetus for further product development.

2005 | Passive House Schaufelder Strasse

In Hanover, STIEBEL ELTRON supported the pioneering conversion of a vacant apartment block into a modern passive house. The heating requirement fell from 230 kWh/m² to 15 kWh/m² per year.

2007 | PlusEnergieHaus Darmstadt

The building developed by students at the TU Darmstadt won the Solar Decathlon in Washington and then went on tour throughout Germany. The centrepiece: heating and ventilation technology from STIEBEL ELTRON.

2015 | Energy Campus Holzminden

The Energy Campus at our plant in Holzminden brings STIEBEL ELTRON to life. In the carbon neutral building, we show what is possible with intelligent building technology and offer space for practical training courses and seminars.

Our products have been ahead of their time in a wide variety of categories and have set fundamental standards. From the very beginning, we have focussed on electrical energy that can be generated from renewable sources in an environmentally friendly way. In this way, we paved the way for sustainable living at an early stage.

Heating

We are convinced that the heat pump is the heating technology of the present and the future. That is why we are investing heavily in the further development and production of heat pump solutions for a wide range of buildings. Whether family homes or commercial buildings, new builds or refurbishments.

Domestic hot water

The roots of our company lie in water heating. To this day, our hot water appliances offer unrivalled hot water convenience in the kitchen and bathroom. Instantaneous water heaters and small storage tanks heat hot water in a highly efficient decentralised manner. And hot water heat pumps are the gateway to renewable home technology for many homeowners.

Ventilation

Modern houses are well insulated and thus save a lot of energy. Our ventilation systems ensure the optimum indoor climate. Whether a centralised or decentralised ventilation system, residents benefit from fresh and perfectly purified air without even having to open the windows.

Cooling

A high standard of comfort also includes cooling in summer. Our heat pumps with cooling function are particularly energy-efficient. Depending on the heating system, this works completely silently and without draughts.

Clear focus on green technologies

As a company, we set the course for the future early on and have been focussing on green technologies instead of oil and gas for almost 50 years. Because renewable energy makes our lives electric and clean. As a family business, we have been pursuing a clear strategy since our foundation in 1924. It is part of our self-image to always think a little further ahead in order to offer you the solutions for tomorrow today.

Pioneer in climate protection

Sustainability is part of our identity. This applies not only to our products but also to our locations and manufacturing processes: STIEBEL ELTRON aims to become completely climate-neutral by 2040.

As a first step, all building and hall heating systems will be completely converted to renewable energy sources by 2030. In the vehicle fleet, we are continuously increasing the proportion of vehicles with electric drives and will no longer allow any conventionally powered vehicles from 2030. In addition, the CO2 footprint of products manufactured in Germany, including the upstream chain balance, is being determined. In this way, we are also creating reliable CO2 transparency for our manufacturing processes.
