Warm Air Hand drying Reducers Germs!
Back to Article Index...A group of warm air hand dryer manufacturers & the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association have examined the question:
“Do warm air hand dryers increase or decrease the germs in the exhaust air?”

Hand dryer HTT5SM
The result:
We have found again & again that the germs in the exhaust air were approx. 90 per cent lower than in the air intake. Thus "Warm Air Hand drying Reducers Germs!"
Summary of the examination on aerobic Germs blown through warm air hand dryer:
Warm air hand dryers use air for the drying process from their immediate environmental surroundings. If the ambient air is loaded with germs, they can be dispersed to the cleaned hands. However the air blowing through the hand dryer is so highly warmed that existing germs in the air have been killed.
All well-known studies have concerned themselves with the germ situation of the entire hand washing process hand washing i.e. from soap to drying. Our investigation examined exclusively the influence of warm air hand dryers on the germs in the air while you dry your hands, which begs the question: “Do warm air hand dryers increase or decrease the germs in the exhaust air?”
In co-operation with each other the “Ipi” (Institute for Policy Innovation) & the “Institute Fresenius” (Chemical and Biological Laboratories) developed and built the necessary tests to answer our question & after several tests were completed. They found that in each & every test the germs in the exhaust air were lower than the intake. A statistic analysis showed 95% effectiveness in reducing the amount of germs.
An additional test performed showed that all the germs came from the surrounding environmental air & not from within, no germs grew inside the hand.
We determined:
- The fairy tale of the “bacteria centrifuge” has after this investigation finally retired. The opposite is true: Warm air hand dryers reduce the germs in air!
- Regarding the hygiene and ecology of warm air hand dryers, hand towel dispensers with recycled paper and fabric textile hand towel dispensers. The Federal Office for Environment Protection (UBA) and Federal Health Office (BGA) determined that hand dryers were the best solution to our problems.
- After this investigation by the ipi institute 2000; Electrical warm air hand dryers are the Number One most economical way to dry your hands.
- In view of the results warm air hand dryers are the best system for drying hands.
